Here are some chocolate mini cupcakes I made with royal icing snowflake toppers. They weren't quite as cute as I wanted, but considering how busy I am at Christmas time, they came out pretty good. These snowflakes were super delicate, though - I think I ended up making twice as many as I used b/c half of them broke as I picked them up. Next time, I would spend a little more time on them and make the fosting a little more pale blue.

Christmas 2010 cookies
Okay, so this was my "aha" moment with decorating cookies. I had read a lot of blogs about cookie decorating and watched some how-to videos on the web and finally figured out that I was using royal icing that was WAY too thin. These cookies were some of the first that I was really proud of...
Hayden's 3rd Birthday (May 2010)
So here are some pictures from Hayden's 3rd birthday. It was my first attempt at fondant cupcake toppers and I thought they turned out pretty well. I also made some Oreo pops (chocolate-covered Oreos) and some cookies that went with the monkey theme of the party. Note, I was still pretty terrible at decorating cookies, and the hot weather wasn't helping.

Hayden's 2nd Birthday (May 2009)
So this was way back in 2009. It was my first try at cookie decorating and considering how terrible I was at it then, it turned out pretty well. And Hayden loved it, so that's all that really mattered.
